          Unit3 What are you doing for vacation?

          Period Five

          Task1 Talk about National Day vacation plans.

          Task2 Write a schedule for the weekend as a tourist guide.

          I. Greeting.

          II. Free talk.

          III. Review the activity phrases. (show in power point)

          IV. Play a memory game with the whole class: (Have a competition)

          The first student says a sentence about a vacation activity. The next student says what the first student is doing and adds a sentence. The third student repeats what the first two students are saying, and so on. See how many activities students can remember. The one who remember the most activities and use the least time wins the game.

          V. Talk about National Day vacation plans.

          The teacher gives an example: (show in power point)

          I am going to my hometown for vacation. I’m going with my husband and my son. I’m leaving on October 1st. I’m staying for a week.I plan to have a relaxing vacation. I’m taking walks,going fishing,going bike riding. I’m planning to spend time in the beautiful countryside. At night, I’m enjoying watching TV and chatting with my family… A great vacation! I can’t wait.

          Students work in groups of four. Then each group chooses one to tell the class about their National Day vacation plans.

          VI. Shelf check:

          1. Ask students to fill the blanks on their own.

          Check the answers.

          Ask students to make their own sentences with words, preferably sentences that are meaningful.

          2. Elicit a few things that tourists who visit Xiamen could do. Ex plain the scenario to the students (they are tourist guides planning a schedule.)

          Give students some main scenes in Xiamen, some hotels and a menu. (show in power point)
