1. To ensure safety, the train is controlled by an advanced computer system.
ensure用作動(dòng)詞，意思是"確保；擔(dān)保"，常用于以下句型：
①ensure that... 保證......
I tried to ensure that everybody understood the instructions. 我設(shè)法確保每個(gè)人都明白這個(gè)說(shuō)明。
I can't ensure that he will arrive there in time. 我不能保證他及時(shí)趕到那兒。
②ensure sb. sth. 確保某人某事/物
This medicine will ensure you a good sleep. 這藥會(huì)確保你睡個(gè)好覺(jué)。
2. It will not be business as usual in the future.
as usual 意思是"像往常一樣；一如往常"。
As usual, there weren't many people at the meeting. 像往常一樣，來(lái)開(kāi)會(huì)的人不多。
Yesterday morning she came into the classroom as usual. 昨天早上她像往常一樣進(jìn)入教室。
【提醒注意】usually為副詞，也有"通常；往常"的意思，常放在be后、情態(tài)動(dòng)詞或助動(dòng)詞與動(dòng)詞之間，為加強(qiáng)語(yǔ)氣也可置于句首。
You don't usually arrive late, do you? 你通常不遲到的，是嗎？
Usually she gets up very early. 通常她起得很早。
3. They are careful about what they eat and exercise regularly.
be careful意思是"注意；當(dāng)心"，常用于以下句型：
①be careful to do sth.
Be careful not to be late for class. 小心上課不要晚了。
②be careful (that)...
Be careful that you are not late for class. 注意上課不要遲到。
③be careful about / of (=take care of)
Be careful of your health. 注意你的身體。
④be careful (in) doing sth.
Be careful (in) crossing the road. 過(guò)馬路時(shí)要小心。
⑤be careful with sth.
Be careful with your work. 工作要認(rèn)真。
4. Advances in medical science have also allowed us to deal with new diseases, such as SARS.
deal在句中可用作及物動(dòng)詞或不及物動(dòng)詞：
①用作不及物動(dòng)詞，常與with連用，意思是"對(duì)付；處理"。
He seemed to be quick-tempered,
but was actually not difficult to deal with. 他似乎性子急躁，但實(shí)際上并不難相處。
He knows how to deal with children. 他知道怎樣對(duì)付孩子。
②用作及物動(dòng)詞，意思是"分配；給予"等。
I tried to deal justice to all men. 我力求公正地對(duì)待所有的人。
5. If we learn to accept change and appreciate what is new and different, we will be well-prepared for whatever the future may have in store.
appreciate用作動(dòng)詞，意思是"鑒賞；欣賞；賞識(shí)；感謝"等，常用于以下句型：
①appreciate + n.
I appreciate your goodness in calling. 你好心來(lái)看我，我很感激。
②appreciate + V-ing
We appreciate hearing from you
again. 我們樂(lè)于再次收到你的來(lái)信。
③appreciate it +if從句
I shall appreciate it if you will do me that favour. 若是你肯幫那個(gè)忙，我會(huì)非常感激的。
