羅伯特·路易斯·史蒂文森(1850—1894, Robert Louis Stevenson),1850年11月生于愛(ài)丁堡,英國(guó)維多利亞時(shí)代的著名作家、詩(shī)人。他的祖父和父親都是土木工程師,史蒂文森秉承父旨進(jìn)入愛(ài)丁堡大學(xué)攻讀土木工程。然而他從小就對(duì)文學(xué)情有獨(dú)鐘。史蒂文森曾回憶道:“我整個(gè)兒童時(shí)代和青年時(shí)代一直在為一個(gè)目標(biāo)忙著,那就是練習(xí)寫(xiě)作。我的口袋里總是裝著兩個(gè)本子,一本是閱讀的書(shū),一本是寫(xiě)作的本子。”
史蒂文森一生多病, 即使書(shū)桌上擺放著藥瓶、手帕上沾著血,樂(lè)觀的精神仍讓他繼續(xù)前進(jìn),在短暫的一生中創(chuàng)作了大量?jī)?yōu)秀作品。他最著名的作品有《金銀島》、驚險(xiǎn)小說(shuō)《化身博士》和《誘拐》、幽默風(fēng)趣的游記《內(nèi)河航程》和《驢背旅程》、隨筆《給少男少女》等,還有本詩(shī)歌的出處——充滿童心詩(shī)趣的詩(shī)集《一個(gè)孩子的詩(shī)園》(A Child’s Garden of Verses, 1885)。
